Sherlock Holmes is back!

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Less than three years ago Hollywood shocked us with a view of Sherlock Holmes that left us all open-mouthed. An incredible Robert Downey Jr actually gave the detective a feeling of his own wayward personality. Apparently being an alcoholic, capricious and unpredictable detective has earned himself a sequel which won’t let you down if what you’re looking for is excitement.
Jude Law, faitful Dr. Watson, is impeccable as an Englishmen.

This time the sequel is called Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. It is a game that the movie doesn’t play, since it has remained at the top of blockbuster chart this month, beating the awaited The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Hollywood style

In 2008, a fairly unknown author’s trilogy was translated into English and several other languages. Millennium is the trilogy of the past decade and is comprised by three breathtaking books: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who kicked the Hornet’s nest. The Girl with the Dragon TattooThe magnificence of the work is only tinged with real drama when we find out that the author of the book wasn’t able to see his master-piece published, since he passed away in 2004.

The Girl with the Dragon TattooAll three books have already been made into movies which were released in 2009 by Yellow Bird, a Swedish film company.

But now, Hollywood slaps all of the European film industry with an open hand with a version of the movie which unsurprisingly seems identical to the Swedish one. Released in the USA this past weekend (16/12/2011), starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, will be hitting European theatres on 13/01/2012.

Breaking Dawn!

Breaking DawnThe fourth movie of the Twilight Saga has created quite a bit of a hassle since the main characters got married and survived their fight against evil. Success is assured if the latest sequel includes a honeymoon and the pregnancy of Bella Swan, the human who has created all of this havoc.

The movie has been divided into two parts, whereas the book it is based on had been originally divided into three sections.

Breaking DawnThe success of the movies not only rely on the script adapted from Stephanie Meyer’s books, but also thanks to the beauty and bold essence that the main characters (Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black) give out in every scene.

The second part of Breaking Dawn is due to be released on November 12th 2012. We know a few fans are going to have a hard time awaiting for the second part to be released.

This is, Immortals!

In 2008, a movie based on the battle fought between the Spartans and the Persians at the Hot Gates was released under the name 300. The plot told the story of how Leonidas and his 300 men defied a whole empire.
The same producers bring us IMMORTALS, which will be released in theaters 11/11/2011.
ImmortalsThe plot is set in ancient Greece and deals with the cliché of good vs evil yet again, but this time even the Gods are going to have trouble dealing with us humans, since King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke), a ruthless king, is on a rampage across Greece in order to obtain a weapon that will destroy humanity. Theseus (Henry Cavill), a mortal, has been chosen by the Gods to confront Hyperion.

Other stars like Stephen Dorf (Blade, Entropia) or John Hurt (The Oxford Crimes, Hellboy) and the ever beautiful Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) haven’t missed the opportunity of being in an epic movie such as this one.

Let us know your impression of this multimillion dollar production by making a comment.

Shrek? Donkey? – No, it’s Puss in Boots

Shrek has starred in four feature movies and two short movies, where he has gone from being a lonely ogre to a complete family man –ogre- . Now it’s time to see where one of his closest friends, Puss in Boots, came from.

Puss in Boots with Antonio BanderasPuss in Boots has been and still is the favourite character of the Shrek series, after of course the green ogre himself. His rebellious attitude, his romantic dialogue and of course his Spanish accent; make him an irresistible spin off.
Antonio Banderas has done a great dubbing job right from the beginning of the saga and this time it has been no disappointment either.

However, Puss in Boots hasn’t been the only animation movie to have spun off from another. Other films such as Madagascar or Cars have respectively spun off to the successful “The Penguins of Madagascar” TV show (soon to become a full feature film) and the Short Tall Tales of Mater.
Here’s the trailer.
